The Pilot paint markers write smoothly and the opaque, permanent ink covers background colours without running or being absorbed.
Shake the marker several times with the cap securely attached and pointing upwards. Remove the cap and press the tip down 3-4 times on a piece of scrap paper to start the ink flowing. Replace cap tightly and store the pen horizontally when not in use.
